Short-Term Study Visa (Language Course)

If you are pursuing studying or training in the UK, in the form of a short course, you will need to apply for a short-term study visa.

For those who intend to do a short term course of study or language courses that are also from outside the EEA and Switzerland, you can apply for a short term visa. The length of time for such visas are from six months to eleven months and usually take about 3 weeks to process, depending on the country you’re applying from.

To be eligible, you must prove that you have been offered a place on a course of study in the UK. Such place of study must also have been accredited. As with all visas, you must be able to prove that you can support yourself or will be supported by relatives, during your course of study.

If you are under 18 years of age, you should also show that your travel and boarding arrangements have been completed and that you have the permission from your parents or guardians to study in the UK.

The following are some of the documents that should be readied in application for this type of visa:

✓ Valid and updated travel document
✓ Evidence of your ability to support yourself or external support during your stay
✓ Details of accommodation and travel plans
✓ Contact details of at least one parent or guardian in your home country (if you are under 18 years of age).
✓ Documents to furnish proof about your intended course of study like a letter of acceptance form the institution, stating your course’s duration, certificates, transcripts and permission to be in the country.
✓ Details of whoever you will be staying with during your and their written consent to look after you during your stay in the UK ( this is if you are under 18).
